Discovery Shark Week
Shark Week is one of the highlights of the Discovery Channel, it is a weeklong tribute to all things shark! To allow better access to their audience around Shark Week stories, videos and games, Discovery used NewsGator’s widget framework to call attention to their dedicated programming and to encourage sharing and distribution among Discovery partners.
Through NewsGator’s inheritance reporting, Discovery was able to quickly learn which sites had “placed” the widget and which sites were driving the most traffic back to the Shark Week content. Thanks to a front page inclusion by the Ocean Conservancy and other partners, Discovery was able to extend the reach of Shark Week well beyond their own website, and saw significant incremental traffic from clicks through the widget as a result.
