Finally, Will Keck fans can now take his piece of the USA Today site with them, they can watch the Will Keck video segment each week from the comfort of their own start page, blog or social network. By allowing the video to be played in the widget, USA Today is monetizing the widget through sponsorships that include pre-roll and post-roll around the video.
The widget also includes the latest headlines from USA Today’s “Lifeline Live” Entertainment blog, which highlights hot stories in entertainment. Offering Will Keck and Lifeline in the same widget helps cross promote those properties to fans of one or the other.
Using a standard RSS feed that includes the video asset, the NewsGator framework supports playing the video inline which provides a great user experience for the audience.
